PET PASSPORTS

All owners who are wishing to travel with their pets to various European countries must undertake the following steps:
- All pets must have a microchip fitted.
- Have your pet vaccinated against rabies.
- Have a blood test to check the level of rabies protection - at least 30 days AFTER rabies vaccination.
- Take your pet to a ministry recognised vet to have a PETS1 certificate issued.
- REMEMBER THAT THE FIRST DAY YOU CAN RE-ENTER THE UK WILL BE SIX MONTHS FROM WHEN THE BLOOD TEST WAS TAKEN.
- NEVER FORGET to take your passport with you when you travel!

Before Re-Entry To The UK
- A vet must treat your pet for worms, ticks and fleas between 24 & 48hrs before embarkation to the UK. An official certificate confirming treatment should be issued at this time.
Remember that it is important that you comply with requirements of ALL countries you travel through so contact the ministry (DEFRA) well in advance to ensure you have all the relevant documentation.

Providing your rabies booster is performed before the expiry date of the previous certificate, then no further blood test should be required.
